Project: Dale

Created for the 2013 Department of Energy Solar Decathlon.

This experimental project envisions a home of the future that uses movement to achieve unique levels of sustainability and affordability.

Designed for the temperate climate of Southern California, this house asks the fundamental questions: how much indoor square footage do we actually need, and when do we need it?

How can we create a building at half the typical square footage, saving 30% building cost and 50% energy use compared to a home with similar functionality.

The answer?: Make it move.
